"COVID Guidelines"



To make air travel safer and stress-free for you, airlines and airports have stepped up their sanitization standards and staff training. Do go through protocols followed by airlines and airports, and play your part too, in making travel safer for everyone. Please pay special attention to domestic air travel & state guidelines, especially those on quarantine, e-pass etc. to ensure hassle-free transit. Non-compliance of rules may lead to denial of boarding.


Health Screening & Passenger Obligations


All passengers must download the Aarogya Setu App.
Passenger is required to undergo COVID-19 Test at the Airport as directed by the Health Authorities.
Thermal screening is mandatory for all passengers.


Quarantine and Testing Rules

All incoming passengers shall be tested with RAPID Antigen Test at a cost of INR 500 per head except medical patients along with their attendant. The cost of the test shall be borne by the passengers themselves. COVID-19 test will be done on random basis. Passengers showing symptoms of COVID-19 shall be tested and will be required to undergo institutional quarantine till the test results are available. Passengers arriving at the airport destined to tribal areas will have to undergo an RT-PCR test. All other asymptomatic travellers will undergo an Antigen test. Symptomatic travellers or ILI cases will be tested as per the existing protocols. All passengers from mainland or inter-island shall stay in home quarantine for 7 days from the day they enter into the island/district or till they are test negative, whichever is earlier.

All international passengers must submit a self-declaration form on the online portal spandana.ap.gov.in at least 72 hours before scheduled travel. Passengers travelling need to give an undertaking on the online portal for mandatory paid quarantine for 14 days, if required. Quarantine exemptions: In the case of pregnancy/death in family/serious illness and parents with children of age 10 years or below, home quarantine shall be permitted. Traveller may be exempted from institutional quarantine if they submit a negative RT-PCR test report on arrival. This test should have been conducted within 96 hours prior to undertaking the journey. If the above test report is not available, passengers may opt for a Rapid Antigen test on payment of INR 500 for conducting COVID-19 test at airport on arrivals. Those who tested negative must undergo 14 days of home quarantine.

All passengers must download the Arogya Setu App. All passengers have to fill a Health Declaration form upon arrival as prescribed by the state. Passengers travelling further to other destinations will be helped with transportation to respective districts or states, and thereafter treated as per the respective state policies. For travellers availing connecting flights, it must be ensured that night halt is not involved in the journey, which might lead to quarantine for a specific period before commencing the journey. All passengers must undergo thermal screening upon arrivals at the airport. All passengers will undergo COVID swab test at arrival airport. Antigen test will be available in GAU. All passengers must undergo 2 days of institutional quarantine, followed by 8 days of home quarantine (applicable for those arriving at Dibrugarh, Silchar and Jorhat airports). Asymptomatic passengers, other than the exempted categories (mentioned below), will have to undergo antigen/ COVID swab tests. If the test result is positive, the passengers will be moved to a COVID facility for further treatment. All those with negative results, are required to proceed for home quarantine. Some asymptomatic passengers have been exempted from institutional quarantine. These include: Pregnant women, children below 10 years along with siblings and parents, senior citizens above 75 years of age. People with pre-existing health conditions and those passengers returning the same day. Divyang (the differently abled travellers). Immediate relatives of hospitalised patients. Husband and wife travelling to Assam together. Husband, wife and their children travelling together to Assam. Those who have to undergo institutional quarantine have an option to choose between either the government-funded facility or a self-paid hotel facility. Every person exempted from institutional quarantine must undergo 14 days of home quarantine. All passengers travelling in capacity of military, para military personnel on official duty will be allowed to directly travel to their respective cantonment/ camp where they will be quarantined. Passengers departing from Assam who have a 72 hours return ticket do not need to undergo quarantine, provided they meet certain criteria.

The decision taken by the government as communicated on the online portal will be final. Passengers arriving are also permitted to take onward flights, if necessary, only after undergoing mandatory quarantine at the first entry airport into India or if they are exempted from being quarantined. Passengers without an RT-PCR negative certificate need to get themselves tested at certain Indian airports upon arrival, at their own cost, before an onward flight. They are also free to commence on their onward journey if the RT-PCR report is negative. Thermal screening will be carried out for all the passengers by the Health officials present at the airport. The self-declaration form filled online must be shown (or a copy of a physical self-declaration form can be submitted) to the airport health staff. The passengers found to be symptomatic during screening shall be immediately isolated and taken to medical facility as per health protocol. Post thermal screening, the passengers who have been exempted from institutional quarantine (decision as indicated on the online portal in advance) will have to show the same to the respective state counters on their cell phones/other mode before being allowed to home quarantine for 14 days.

Government official from state and centre, judges of Supreme and High court and other judicial officers, MP�s and MLA of Uttarakhand and support staff are exempted from quarantine. All inbound asymptomatic persons who have a negative RT-PCR/ True NAT/CBNAAT test from an ICMR authorized lab (not earlier than 96 hours from the time of arrival) will be exempted from quarantine.

International travellers entering Uttar Pradesh have to undergo a mandatory 7-day institutional quarantine followed by 7 days of home quarantine. Passengers who do not have suitable facility for home quarantine will have to be in institutional quarantine for 14 days. Domestic travellers are required to undergo 14 days of home quarantine. Passengers exiting Uttar Pradesh within 7 days of arrival shall be exempted from mandatory quarantine subject to validation of return/ onward travel. Special instructions for Noida: All those entering Noida are required to undergo mandatory institutional quarantine for a week. International Passengers travelling should also give an undertaking on the portal that they would undergo mandatory institutional quarantine with self-monitoring of health. Only for compelling reasons/ cases of human distress such as pregnancy, death in family, serious illness and parent(s) with children of the age of 10 years or below, home quarantine may be permitted for 14 days.

Thermal screening should be done for all passengers. All asymptomatic travellers entering the state need to self-monitor their health for 14 days. All travellers exhibiting the symptoms of COVID-19 will be taken to the nearest facility conducting the test. The duration of quarantine will be decided by the health authorities. All passengers travelling to India and arriving at any of the airports in West Bengal, are required to submit self-declaration online at https://www.newdelhiairport.in/. All passengers arriving from any country except Bangladesh must carry a negative RT-PCR test report issued within 96 hours of the departure and must upload the same on the portal at least 72 hours before departure. Post submission, passengers shall be issued approval/ NOC, subject to the fulfilment of criteria laid down by the State Health Authorities. If the approval/NOC is applied later than this, timely approval may not be guaranteed. All passengers arriving from Bangladesh must carry a negative RT-PCR test report issued within 72 hours of the departure and must upload the same on the portal at least 24 hours before departure. All passengers must carry the original RT-PCR negative certificate and the copy of approval/NOC received on the portal. All passengers are required to undergo a mandatory home quarantine for 14 days. Passengers not carrying the RT-PCR negative certificate and the approval/NOC shall not be allowed to travel. Asymptomatic passengers carrying RT-PCR negative report/certificate shall be allowed to take onward flight.

We sincerely urge you to follow these compulsory travel guidelines listed out by the Ministry of Civil Aviation and other relevant authorities, for a safe and hassle-free flying experience!

★ Passengers are required to wear face masks at all times, at the airport and in the flight.
★ Passengers must arrive at the airport, using a personal or an authorized vehicle only.
★ Travellers are advised to download and activate the Aarogya Setu app on their phones.
★ Travellers are required to certify the status of their health through the Aarogya Setu app or a self-declaration form, and go through temperature screening.
★ Only passengers who have completed web check-in will be allowed to enter the airport. Please do carry an e-boarding pass on your mobile. Alternatively, you can carry the printout of the boarding pass.
★ Travellers should report to the airport at least 2 hours prior to the departure time. Boarding gates will close 20 minutes before departure.
★ Only passengers who have flights departing in the next 4 hours will be allowed to enter the terminal building.
★ Use of trolley is not allowed.
★ Only 1 check-in baggage up to 20 kgs and 1 cabin baggage will be allowed per passenger.
★ Travellers are required to print and paste a pre-filled baggage tag (included in booking) and affix it on the bags. Alternatively, they should mention the PNR number and name on paper and affix it on the bags.
★ Elderly, pregnant and ailing individuals are advised to avoid air travel. Additionally, individuals who have been tested COVID-19 positive or are staying in a containment zone should not travel.
★ No meal service, newspapers or magazines will be available on-board.
★ Travellers will be required to sign self-declaration forms. In case of a PNR having more than one passenger, the declaration would be deemed to be covering all the passengers mentioned in the PNR.

★ The buses used for boarding sanitised continuously.


Trained Staff

★ All staff to follow proper hygiene standards, and wear protective gear (masks and gloves) at all times.
★ All staff including the ground staff and crew to undergo regular health checks, and training on various protective/preventive measures.
★ In case of COVID-19 related medical emergency on board, aircraft disinfection to be carried with special attention to the affected seats.


Safe Practices

★ Boarding commences 60 minutes before departure to allow time for safety processes.
★ Staggered sequential boarding in batches of 10 done to the extent possible.
★ Use of lavatory and non-essential movement in the aisle to be minimised.
★ No queuing allowed at the lavatory. Only one companion allowed for children and the elderly.
★ No meal services or on-board sale of food items to minimize physical contact. Water bottle made available in the galley area or on the seats.
★ Passengers not permitted to consume any eatables inside the aircraft during the flight (except on health grounds).
★ No newspapers/magazines made available in the aircraft.
★ Passengers required to complete web check-in prior to arriving at the airport. Airline to provide passengers with a facility to tele check-in.
★ Self-declaration by passengers during web/ tele check-in required for issuance of boarding pass.

★ Separate areas earmarked for isolation and COVID-19 testing of suspected passengers.
★ Separate entry gates designated for each airline to avoid overcrowding.
★ Proper disposal of all biohazard materials ensured through special bins earmarked for used masks, tissues, gloves etc.
★ No newspapers, magazines or non-essential loose items provided in the terminal building or lounges.
